About Me

Educational History:

  • I’m a proud 1985 graduate of North Lamar ISD
  • I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1988 

Degrees and Certifications:

I attained a Bachelor of Arts dual degree in English/Elementary Education

Professional Experience

Current Position:

  • I began my teaching career right here at NLISD in January 1989 when Higgins Elementary first opened.  I was a 2nd grade teacher for 3 years.
  • After I started a family, I stayed home to raise children for 8 years.  I returned to teaching as a 3rd grade teacher at Everett in 2000.
  • I taught in the classroom as a 3rd grade teacher for 6 years.
  • I became the first Math Intervention  teacher at Everett in 2006, and have happily served in the Math Lab ever since.  I teach both 2nd and 3rd grade students each day.

Family Information:

  • I have been happily married to my husband since 1987.
  • I have 3 grown children who all graduated from North Lamar.
  • I have 8 young grandchildren.
  • I live in the farming community of Direct where I grew up.  I have a dog, a cat, and a small backyard chicken/egg operation that keeps me grounded to my roots on the farm.

Personal Information:

I am a farmer’s daughter, so when I am not at school I can most often be found in the garden, the flowerbeds, the chicken pen, or in the kitchen canning and freezing produce.  I love spending time with my family.  We love to camp, fish, play in the creek, and sit on the porch around the fireplace.  Reading is what I do to relax!
